Rational continuum mechanics
The lecture course is based on the monography:
Zhilin P.A. Rational Continuum Mechanics. Politechnic University Publishing House, St. Petersburg. 2012. (In Russian)
The main objective of the course is to introduce students to modern ideas of mechanics of inelastic media, the fundamentals of mechanics of multi-component media including the description of thermodynamic processes and chemical reactions, and the methods of description of three-dimensional media with rotational degrees of freedom including multi-component media. The listed topics are set out in the spring semester of the fifth year. Section, which is set out in the autumn semester of the sixth year, is devoted ideas by P.A.Zhilin relating to the use of continuum mechanics models to describe various physical processes and phenomena. This section is expository.
